Our Story
Once upon a time, after having her own bariatric surgery Kim attended a professional training event about Disordered Eating, and fate stepped in. Due to having to attend her own post surgery nutrition meeting, Kim was unable to join in on one of the group training exercises and instead chatted to the trainers, Bernie and Lisa, both experts in their own fields. They talked about the impact dysfunctional eating has on bariatric success and asked one simple question: How can we support bariatric patients access better resources to help with the psychological challenges pre and post surgery?
Their answer: The Centre For Bariatric Support.
After experiencing first hand, personally and professionally, the impact of poor mental health and wellbeing has on the quality of life of a bariatric patient, and the slow and limited support available to them, we wanted to make a difference. We want to help bariatric patients overcome the psychological challenges that led to obesity and master the new healthy habits of a successful bariatric lifestyle through developing a healthier happier body and mind and accessing professional support from the best bariatric therapists and bariatric surgery providers.
Pre or post surgery patient, practitioner or provider – we are here to help you.
Kind regards, Bernie, Kim and Lisa
